Don’t Scratch That Itch
All of a sudden you find that you are itchy. You can’t figure out why, so you start to back track your steps. Did you come in contact with poison ivy or something that you are allergic to? Did you get bit by a bug of some sort? These are the typical causes of an itch.
Itch Fixes
If you have an itch that you can’t stop scratching, try these simple home remedies for itchy skin. They have worked like a charm for many years. You will want to pass them down from generation to generation.
• Oatmeal is a natural itching cure. Pour 2-3 cups of oatmeal into a warm bath. You can either soak the affected area or soak your whole body (it’s actually very soothing for the whole body). Make sure you soak for at least fifteen minutes. This will help stop the itch.
• Baking soda has worked for years as a home remedy for itching. Take baking soda and mix it with water (not too much water, as the baking soda needs to feel pasty). Apply the paste to the itchy area and leave it on until it dries. You can wash it off with warm water afterwards.
• Vicks vapor rub has also been known to work wonders for itchy skin. If you are looking for immediate relief rub Vicks vapor rub on the itching area and it will stop the itching almost immediately.
These remedies work for children and adults of all ages, but should be carefully administered to infants. You should contact your Pediatrician if your itching is causing sores of any kind, as this may require antibiotics.
