Getting Fit for Spring through Natural Detox

detoxSpring is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to start getting fit.  It is not too hot and people are very anxious to get out of the house after a long time inside from the winter months. There is more time to be outside to exercise and play with your kids (which is an excellent source of exercise). 


Spring is also a great time to detoxify your body.  Your body naturally detoxifies, but generally this happens in the morning and in the spring.   If you do not eat before you go to bed, your body can detoxify all night.  This will leave you feeling refreshed in the morning.  Here are some tips to get your body feeling “refreshed” in the morning.

• Go to bed slightly hungry

• Your breakfast should be the healthiest meal of the day.  Lunch should be your biggest and dinner should be your lightest

• Drink a lot of water all day, especially in the morning.

• Drink some lemon juice with your water. This will push out your wastes

• Eat a lot of dark colored vegetables.  The chlorophyll is a great detoxifier.

• Get some sun, but never too much.  Always wear sunscreen.

• Eat seasonal foods, such as young greens and sprouts of the seasons.

• Eat foods high in fiber because they promote elimination, which includes beans, seeds, grains, fruits and vegetables.  These items are highly cleansing.

• Eat whole foods.  Refined foods deplete the body of nutrients and causes wastes.

Spring is the best time to get fit.  You can get fit without having to exercise! 

Here are some ideas.

• Park your car far away from your destination.

• Skip the elevator and walk the stairs.

• Stretch for 15 minutes every morning and breathe deep for reducing stress.

• Pump up the volume and dance around the house!

• Bend and stretch when you are cleaning.
