Love Spicy Food, But Hate the Heartburn?

heartburnHeartburn is no fun.  Some of us love spicy food, but the after effects of heartburn have us turning these foods away.  If we indulge in these foods, we know the burning sensation or pain in the stomach that comes afterwards sometimes for hours.  Heartburn is worse if you lie down after a meal and usually belching, nausea, bitter taste in mouth and vomiting happen as well. 

Heartburn Remedies

There are a few over the counter acid relief medications that can be purchased to ease this burning pain.  However, try some of these home remedies first.  It will save you money, time and may also be a lot healthier for your body.

• If you feel acid problem in your stomach then chew some basil leaves. Slowly suck on a small piece.

• Drinking a glass of chilled milk is a quick remedy for heartburn.

• Almonds can also be very effective in treating heartburn.  Chew few almonds when you start to feel the heartburn.

• Ginger root with honey taken after meal can also work quite well.

• Avoid fried foods, pickled foods and spicy foods when you have hyperacidity or heartburn problems.

• Eating fruits such as apples, watermelon and bananas are good for people with hyperacidity problems.

• Drink plenty of water.

• Avoid garlic, onion, pepper, radish and cabbage, as these are high in acidity.
A few other suggestions would include never going to bed directly after a meal and don’t lie down after a meal either.  Wait a few hours before lying down.
