Strike Back at Cracked Lips
Chapped or cracked lips can get out of control if not taken care of right away. Sometimes the lips crack and bleed, which can be very painful. Causes can include over exposure to the cold or windy conditions, over exposure to the sun, allergies, dehydration and frequent use of soaps and other chemicals.
We always try to lick the lips when they are dry or chapped, but this just makes them worse. Sure, you feel immediate temporary relief, but in only a few seconds they feel more chapped. So, what should you do about those cracked and dry lips? Here are a few simple home remedies that will have your lips feeling silky smooth again in no time.
Chapped Lips Remedies
• Try applying milk cream to your lips at bedtime. Leave it on for about five minutes, then wash it off. This will give a soothing effect and prevent cracks on the lips.
• Apply hydrogen peroxide to the lips. Sometimes the lips are cured and silky smooth the next morning.
• It is a good idea to use a humidifier to moisten the air in your home.
• If you get cracked lips often and find them at the corners of your mouth, you are likely to be lacking vitamin B2. Try to eat foods rich in vitamin B2, such as milk, liver and eggs.
• Apply either lip balm or petroleum jelly or vitamin E oil or aloe vera gel. The idea is to you’re your lips moist with these greasy products.
