Sweet Dreams the Natural Way

sleep naturallyInsomnia is a problem for many people.  We simply cannot sleep once we lay our head down on our pillow at night.  Maybe it’s a result of a stressful job, problems with the kids or everyday life stress.  It can also be caused by low blood sugar, asthma or a lack of certain minerals like calcium.  We know we are tired and need sleep, but we just can’t make ourselves sleep.

Reducing salt in your diet can actually help insomnia.  If you love salt and find it hard to eliminate at once, try to gradually reduce salt.  Maybe have salt on your lunch and eliminate it you’re your evening dinner.  Or, you could slowly reduce the salt each day.

By getting in a daily walk or exercise of some kind you will help your body get healthy.  It also helps you sleep at night.  A work out should always be done in the morning or afternoon, but not at night just before you go to bed.

Grandma used to drink warm milk before going to bed at night.  This is an old remedy that seemed to work, so why not give it a shot.  If you can get your hands on goat’s milk it’s even better.  You can probably find it in health food stores (if you don’t live near a farm).

Including a lot of green leafy lettuce in your diet can also help you sleep better.  Have a salad with your dinner.  It’s healthy and will also help you get that sleep you need to feel fresh the next morning.
